Mental Fatigue description I’m starting to realise/become aware that my mental fatigue is actually a thing.. and not just me being extra tired, or lazy, or losing the plot etc… and so I’m looking stuff up. Discovered the above website (not MS related particularly) and took the little questionnaire (Mental Fatigue Scale*) just now… although it is just a...

Tinnitus
Yes, so I now have tinnitus to add to my list of “is it because of my MS?” things. I haven’t found any research online to connect the two, but I’ve spotted others talking about it in terms of their MS.  I don’t know.  It might be related.  Might be a bi-product of the morning pressure headaches/buildup/grogginess I get after waking.  Maybe the pressure build up has...

Leg Fatigue
I don’t mind it so much when I wake up and start my day with my legs feeling achy and shaky*.   It is when it sneaks up on me.  Cause I’ll feel fine to start with.  Like I could have a trouble free day. I’ll have been up and about actually feeling fairly ok, then an hour later, or two or three…or I’ll be out taking a walk, running errands etc… and it...

Decisions
So, I’m trying to decide whether I should go outside at any point today, or give myself another day or two’s rest.  I’m almost back to normal after the fun of the last few days except my right leg and foot is still feeling stiff and achey.  Not sure if the exercise of walking is the best thing to do today or not.  Would my leg be thankful or not? The thing is I need to go buy...

Better Today
Told you… All is essentially back to normal.  Fatigue is minimal, woosiness is minimal (still there, but barely).  Everything is fine…  except for one thing… the right side of my right foot.  Have you ever had a bone that needs to crack, or be moved back into place?  I have that kind of feeling along the right edge of my right foot. I keep wiggling and flexing my foot and toes...

Feeling awful
Although nothing to panic about I have returned to feeling “not quite right” over the past few days. My legs are aching with fatigue (especially the right one), my feet and ankles too.  My head is abuzz with something.  Not quite light-headedness but getting there.   Trying to find energy to get up after waking is ridiculous (I can, but only after ages of lolling about waiting for my...

Sleep
Lately I’ve been working on the ever-troubled sleep routine.  Trying to keep to a regular schedule.  With mixed success.  Some nights I’m just not sleepy at all, other nights I’m tired but just can’t switch off (not just an MS thing I know). Anyway, I notice my feet ache more whenever I stay up late, not exactly sure why that would be.  Usually they return to...

Walking did help
Legs almost feel back to “normal”, except my achy ankles which are always an issue.  Also beginning to suspect this current problem is a simple* lower back ache that is knocking into the weakness in my legs.  Making my walking go funny.  Now looking into getting myself a new mattress.. which to be honest I can’t really afford so it will need to be cheap as chips… but if...

Legs are a bit better today
Still sore but I can move.  Wondering whether to go out for my walk or leave it another day.  I really do feel like “stretching my legs” but a bit worried it will aggravate things again.

Interesting couple of days...
(Not really) As yesterday was the last Friday of the holiday fortnight, and as I didn’t have anything I really needed to do I gave myself permission to have a lazy day.  You know?  Sleep late, curl up in front of the tv, read.  That kind of thing.  Which to be honest I don’t get to do very often.  Only I’m paying for it today.  My legs are aflame with achyness.  Hips and lower...

CFS symptoms (aside the fatigue that is) muscular pain, joint pain and severe headaches  - Achy leg joints, no real headaches so far. poor short-term memory and concentration, and difficulty organising your thoughts and finding the right words (“brain fog”) - sometimes.  memory is ok (I think), concentration is more tricky these days. painful lymph nodes (small glands of the immune...

Lately I've been wondering... MS or Chronic...
Or indeed anything else on that area of health problems… When I first started having “issues” and was prodded, scanned and tested that was when I was told “it may be MS”.  No one mentioned Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, or indeed anything else. I’ve been reading up on stress and its long term effects which led me on to reading about PTSD and Chronic Fatigue...

7pm is turning into naptime
Or the “system reboot” as I’ve started calling it.  That is what it seems to be. Not every day (today is ok) but often enough now to no longer be a surprise. Usually half an hour is all it takes to get me working again.  It is all down to the fatigue around my body.  What it is getting up to.  There are a few key areas where fatigue and muscle tensions build up and build...

Things I Know about... steps and stairs...
One big step is better than two little ones. Although trying to take two little steps in one is often too much. Go slowly On my walks around town there is one key set of steps and stairs (the main access point for one of paths around here).  The main steps are fine enough.  To begin with though there is a little extra bit, which the builders didn’t really think about.  Instead of...

Seasonal Differences
Every so often I notice how the weather seems to affect me and my MS.  Summer heat results in constantly achy feet/ankles.  Ankles are constantly aflame with aches. The cooler autumn/winter weather… the aches and pains go away (mostly… woo hoo), replaced with more pronounced tiredness and fatigue. Stiffness in the various muscles.  Again mostly in my feet, but also throughout leg...

Nothing much happening
… on the MS front (still… which is good). My body is doing this thing now though where I am constantly sleepy during the day.  Honestly I could curl up for a nap right now (3.30pm).  Then when I do sleep through the night I will wake up at some point with my arms tingling with pins and needles.  But it goes away again after I fall back asleep.  I can’t tell if this is...

General thoughts and talking to myself
I am not really finding anything to say on my MS blog of late.  Which is a good thing really.  It means nothing is specifically wrong.  I will never complain about nothing being wrong.  Aches and pains are at a minimum.  Even in my feet.  At most all I feel is muscle tension in my feet and lower legs.  Like I constantly need to stretch them out and keep loosening up all the various parts.  My...

That time of year again
Yep, so I have inflamed glands again.  The ones behind my ears, and also my tonsils I think.  They feel thick and achey. Trying to keep a note of when and how often this happens (hence the post… adding it to the list).  The last time was back in May this year. The tonsils part is new.  Normally it is just the ears and into the back of the head. Will have a few especially quiet days I...

Not MS just... life
I need to think out loud… this seems as good a place as any.   Apologies if nobody cares.  Just move on. So Christmas is on the way… sorry don’t mean to bring reminders to people so early. It is on my mind lately because well I need to plan a strategy for this year. Well thanks to unemployment (don’t ask) I have very little spending money.   At least until I can find...

Without The Weight: Small Victories Don't Always... →
withouttheweight: Today I weighed myself (as I do everyday) to notice that I had gained a pound. This is beyond annoying to me. What can I do? What am I doing wrong? It’s been amazingly frustrating to try and… You are not doing anything wrong.   Everybody’s weight naturally...

Reasons why I like going for a walk: Fresh air My feet/legs feel like they have had a good workout Ankle/feet ligaments and tendons feel like they get a decent stretch Foot bones feel like they get to click into place (does that make sense?) Reasons why I don’t like going for a walk: It’s too warm, at least by the time I am returning home I am overheating My ankles hurt more...

Interesting article.  Not sure what I think about it yet though. Well said mymsandme (sorry, not sure how to respond directly on Tumblr): This is why I wasn’t entirely sure about the article, I just couldn’t clarify or articulate the thought too well.  I like the idea of “positive thinking gets you through” but it is also true that you have to be realistic.  Sometimes...
